Whittaker Memorial Hospital closed in 1985, and is currently listed on the VA Historic Register.
Upon renovations completion, it will be an ideal residential
complex providing support services for our veterans, wounded and disabled warriors.

In order to serve all military personnel and Veteran's with stable permanent housing, and comprehensive continuum of care for special needs, a the Whittaker Heritage for Veterans will be a 21st Century blueprint model for community and non-profit military services support.
Key Components LLC is proud to provide the ‘Housing for Heroes’ model vital for quality of life, with safe and affordable apartments, case management, behavioral health care, life management skills, physical rehabilitation programs, case management, education and job training, and recreational leisure facilities. This historic project’s adaptive reuse and revitalization of the former hospital will also make a significant contribution to the Newport News Community, while offering a unique opportunity to assist our underserved military who responded to the call to insure our safety and freedom.
The facility has been renamed Whittaker Heritage to preserve the former hospital, originally developed during the segregation era (1943) and is located in the Brookeville Heights neighborhood, southeast quadrant of the City of Newport News.
